Do not be anxious

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil 4:6-7)

This morning I read that and said to God, “Lord, does that really mean anything and everything? Surely this time I have the exception to the rule.”

If I do have the exception (which I don’t), then I miss the promise that peace will come.

So my head repeats back this promise to God, trying not to be anxious, until the Spirit of God comes and does something that I cannot do inside of myself.
