Jeanne Clem, wife of Pastor Bill Clem of Mars Hill Church died yesterday, December 17th, around 3:15pm. As I mentioned in a previous post, Jeanne has been struggling with cancer. Now she’s in heaven with Jesus.
Please pray for Pastor Bill and his kids. It has been a long seven years of ups and downs as Jeanne as gone in and out of remission. Now they are grieving the loss of a faithful wife and mother.
The Clems came to Mars Hill over a year ago when the church Pastor Bill planted, Doxa, folded into our church and became the West Seattle Campus (where Jason and I were married).
Part of Jeanne’s story and a video of her and Bill is featured in the sermon “A Rebel’s Guide to Joy in Death” preached by Pastor Mark several weeks ago.
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” (2 Cor. 4:16-18)

Bill – I’m praying for you and your family. What a powerful testimony and encouragement for us to live setting out minds on things above. Jeanne knew her time was short here – many of us have no clue as to how much time we have, so it behooves all of us to live with Paul’s instructions on our heart and mind. Thanks for your faithful testimony over the years.

Dear Bill,
It has been many years since we have had contact. Our times together at SEMP were wonderful times of ministry together. My wife, Karen, and I greive with you over the lost of Jeanne. Please know that we will uphold you and your family in our prayers. Karen and I now live in France, just outside of Paris. We spent the last 8 years in Kenya training Youth Workers and we are now beginning to do the same here in France.
Know that you are loved from “across the pond”.
In Christ, Frank and Karen Mills

Bill,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. We will be praying for you. I still remember asking you to baptize me when you were director of the Inn. You and Jeanne made a great team, and I look to my time at the Inn as one of the most spiritually fulfilling and uplifting times in my life.
Life isn’t easy, but I think God uses pain to help us to appreciate His blessings rather than just take them for granted. Your loss now will pale to the joy of meeting again in Paradise.
In Christ,
Michael Klein
